Arts In Education

This committee selects cultural arts programs for our students. Its goal is to provide students with exposure to fine arts in order to enhance our curriculum. Volunteers will assist staff with school fine arts night.

Community Outreach

This committee helps our local community by implementing several outreach drives to assist our neighbors in need in addition to GES United Way events.

This committee maintains a volunteer contact list and communicates information about PTA events and volunteer needs.

Education

This committee works with school faculty/staff to provide resources to advance educational practices and enhance the curriculum.

Environmental Education

This committee will educate the students, parents, and community on the importance of preserving our environment. This committee will monitor recycling programs in our school as well as provide landscaping and work to our outdoor classroom

Fall/Winter Family Fun

This committee will organize the Holiday Shop and Pancake Breakfast in December. Also, It will assist the school with the Fall Festival as needed.

Father/Daughter Dance

This committee organizes the annual Father/Daughter dance.

Fifth Grade Activities

This committee works with fifth grade teachers to organize special activities for fifth graders including quarterly events with other schools and end of year party.

Fundraising

This committee implements the various tasks associated with PTA-sponsored fundraisers. The Fall Fundraiser is the major fundraiser for all PTA programs and projects during the school year, therefore supporting educational enhancements at all grade levels.

Health/Red Ribbon

This committee presents information and programs on health-related issues to parents, students and staff at Grayson. These events include Red Ribbon Week (Drug Free) and Anti-Bullying Week.

Legislative

This committee tracks and reports on education-related legislative issues at all levels of government. By keeping parents informed about the issues, this committee encourages parents to become more effective advocates for their children. This committee also coordinates the school’s delegation to PTA Day at the State Capitol during the legislative session and organizes the fifth grade trip to the Capitol.

Membership

This committee actively promotes PTA membership, beginning at the start of the school year during Orientation and the PTA Open House Nights and continuing throughout the year. It encourages all Grayson Elementary faculty, staff, and parents to join our PTA.

Mini-Fundraisers

This committee handles all mini fundraiser projects (Box Tops, Campbell’s Labels, Tyson and Coke Rewards).

Orientation

This committee recruits and organizes volunteers to work in teachers’ classrooms during back to school orientation day.

This committee publishes a monthly newsletter that informs parents about school activities, projects and important dates.

Reflections

Reflections is an annual contest sponsored by the national PTA. Students use the creative arts (literature, musical composition, photography, visual arts, dance choreography, and film production) to interpret a theme. Entries are judged at the school level and the winners are entered into the regional and state competitions. Volunteers are needed to collect and judge the entries and to coordinate the regional and state entries.

Room Parents

This committee gathers a list of homeroom parents and communicates with them about school-wide class parties (winter holidays and end-of-the-year activities). The volunteer coordinates with homeroom parents on class donations for school events and recruits volunteers for hospitality events, including fall festival, book fair, staff and teacher appreciation events and field day.

Skate Night

This committee organizes family skate nights at Sparkles Skate Rink on a monthly basis during the school year, usually on the first Thursday night of each month.

Spirit Wear

This committee plans, purchases, sells, and distributes clothing and other items that promote school spirit within the school and raises awareness of the school in the wider community.

Staff Appreciation

This committee plans and implements staff appreciation events throughout the year including Bus Driver Appreciation Day (3rd Monday in October), School Counselor Day, School Nurse Day and Teacher Appreciation Week (1st full week in May) along with other events. The committee will also plan luncheons for the teachers at various occasions throughout the year.

Talent Show

This committee works with Mr. Gibson to preview and schedule student acts for our annual talent show.

VIP (Very Involved Parent)

This committee coordinates volunteers that assist teachers “behind the scenes” with classroom prep items such as cutting and assembling books, die-cutting shapes, stapling and cutting out laminated items.

Website

This committee updates the PTA website to include communications (such as school calendar, directory, volunteer opportunities), links, pictures, meeting minutes, etc. and ensures that the website contains pertinent information for the Grayson community. School-wide event fliers and other PTA information are added during the year.
